Our Values

Empathy

At Gig it, we understand that empathy is essential to creating a genuine connection. It means removing judgement. Allowing yourself to take the perspective of someone else, to feel what they feel, and to communicate that understanding. This is an expectation that we have for every interaction and all interpersonal relationships. It’s ok. Let the feelings in!

“I do not ask the wounded person how he feels, I myself become the wounded person.”
– Walt Whitman

Vulnerability

What does vulnerability mean to you? To us, true vulnerability, allowing all of yourself to be seen, is a tremendously courageous undertaking. It is also the only path towards meaningful and authentic relationships. We believe in helping our people walk the path of vulnerability so that they can love wholeheartedly, be grateful, even in moments of fear or doubt, and become the best versions of themselves.

“Staying vulnerable is a risk we have to take if we want to experience connection.”
– Brené Brown

Legacy

When it is time for you to leave this world, who will you have become? What will you leave behind? How will you be remembered? Our people understand that their time is a resource. It can be used to build the life and the legacy that they want for themselves, or it can be spent idly and without purpose. We choose to live intentionally. We expect our people to have a vision for themselves and to cultivate a life in the pursuit of that vision.

“If you’re going to live, leave a legacy. Make a mark on the world that can’t be erased.”
– Maya Angelou

Entrepreneurship

Everyone at Gig it is an entrepreneur. We own our work, take bold, calculated risks, and seek innovative solutions to create value for others. We also emphasize strategic, decisive decision making, expect a certain degree of failure, and at the core of it all, a passion for the purpose of the organization and for satisfaction through service.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
– Mark Twain

Conscience

In each of us, there exists what some refer to as instinct, gut feeling, or intuition that evaluates our choices and informs us of what is right and what is wrong. We encourage everyone to lean into this feeling, to explore it, to understand it, and to allow it to move from an inner voice to an outer action.

“In reality, moral rules are directions for running the human machine.”
– C.S. Lewis

Attitude

No matter what happens to us in our lives, we have a choice in how we choose to respond to it. Our people understand that the attitude with which we choose to approach life can be our greatest and most important gift. To our people, and to those who understand and embrace this choice, raise a glass. Drink in this world of ours, the good, the bad, and the ugly, and do so with an endearing smile because life is fleeting, but we have chosen to face it with grit and merriment for the time that is given to us.

“The only thing we can do is play the one string we have, and that is our attitude… I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.”
– Charles Swindoll
